Hope on Easter
Today is Easter. No, don't think of a little bunny that hides eggs. There are only two species of mammals that lay eggs, and those are Echidnas and Platypuses. Both of which are very odd-looking animals, and not remotely close to bunnies. Also, bunnies aren't tall enough to hide eggs in places far up. Don't get me started on all the other reasons, and definitely not Santa Claus. There is no scientific proof that...
Anyway, let's paint the picture of this scene at Easter. There are the disciples, devastated at the loss of their master and teacher. Mary Magdalene and Jesus's mother, Mary, were very shocked and sorrowful as well. They couldn't understand. Jesus, who they had loved and admired, was crucified. They hadn't known that such a thing was even possible! They were hopeless. The two Marys were walking to go to Jesus's tomb, which was covered by a huge boulder to ensure nobody got in - or out. It was guarded by a unit of Roman soldiers.
But when they got there, the stone was rolled away! It was amazing! This was a huge stone we are talking about. And there was an angel that was so awe-inspiring that all of the guards had fainted! The Bible, in Matthew 28, tells us that "his appearance was like lightning." The angel from Heaven explains to the disciples that Jesus was risen from the dead! Our Lord and Saviour has conquered death! He is risen!
